This is the first time I have initiated a thread, so please bear with
any mistakes.
I bought a copy of this book at the con. auction thinking in my
innocence that it would be the first printing. Imagine my surprise and
delight when I found it was the new second edition! I am working my
way through it (I keep it at our "other home" so only get limited
access.
I have read Stacie's contribution (Excellent) Please write that novel
you keep promising!
I intend buying "Family Bites" as soon as I have read GP and 'Art of
Discworld'
Are their any other afp related books I can add to the library?
Oh yes, and I'm still trying to get "Once more with Footnotes" but no
credit card. And the publishers never replied to my e-mail! (Aw)
I'm also interested in a copy of "The Tale" if I can get one.
I think this is the longest post I have ever made - just pray it's not
permanent,as Eric found out,I can be quite verbose when I get started.
:-)

Lordy.

Come over here to afp for a second....

Someone's sure to give you more info than I can, any second now...

In brief, its The Tale of Westala and Villtin, and has its own--cult isn't
too strong a word--following.

Entirely unrelated to Terry [1], but highly related to alt.fan.pratchett
fans, it's a humouristic fantasy novel that was serialised on a.f.p. between
March 2002 and August this year. The full name is "Ill in Anorankhmar (A
Tale of Westala and Villtin: A New Hope)" [2]

It's in the process of being illustrated and prepared for print, at the
moment, and should be available by the end of October/beginning of November.

[1] Well, there is a cameo of someone with a beard and hat who is signing
books.
[2] More commonly known as "The Tale of Westala and Villtin"

I don't think I thanked everyone who clued me in on this for doing so, so
thank you. :)

Count yourself lucky (he muttered darkly)

Alternatively visit http://www.student.lu.se/~his02ero/index.html or
see alt.fan.pratchett but be warned, there's an awful lot of it in
there...

Cheers,

If you come across the first edition, you may find yourself very thankful
that you got the second one. IMO, on the whole the essays in it are much
better.

Ppint has mentioned that OMWF will be available through ppint's bookstore.
I believe there is further information on www.lspace.org about contacting
ppint.

Thanks, yes I already have that on my favourites and use it
frequently. What I was really wondering was AFPer fiction (As per
'Family Bites') but NOT Fanfic which I admire but feel it to be wasted
talent. I'm not trying to be controversial its just my own opinion.

Could you tell me how many pages it has? The first edition has 184 pages but I
can't find a page telling me how many pages the new edition has.
Thank you very much in advance.

That is, the hardcover is all I have right now to look at, and it happens to
be numbered to page 343. The index appears in the trade paperback as well.
Sheesh.

I need the exact number for statistical reasons ;-)
The last one printed in the book. Is it 344?

Oh, statistical reasons. The last numbered page is 343. But the back of that
page--which would be 344-- is printed as well, without a number. Would you
like an account of the pages that just have Roman numerals on them?

Does it say "This Page Intentionally Left Blank" on it? The Church of the Blank

No, it isn't blank at all. It just isn't numbered. Probably a heresy of some
kind.

No, thank you. I'll take the 344 and pretend that is the right number of pages
;-)
